The dog is asleep while the cat sits on top of the cupboard. The second dog runs through the frame the moment you lift your phone. If you have several pets, you know the feeling: a photo where all of them look good and face the camera at the same time is close to impossible. Yet that's exactly the picture many people want for their wall. In this guide we show how separate photos become one shared artwork and what to look for in the photos.

Create your free previewWhy a photo together is so hard
Pets have minds of their own. Different sizes make it even harder: next to a big dog, a cat quickly looks tiny, and getting both sharp in the same shot rarely works. Some pets simply don't get along well enough to sit side by side. And sometimes one of them is no longer alive, but still belongs.
The solution: merging separate photos
With the family artworkfamily artwork from Arturell, up to 4 photos of people or pets, group photos included, are merged into one shared picture with AI. You upload 2 to 4 photos, and one photo can show several pets. The result is an artwork that shows them all together, in one consistent style, then printed on canvas. The picture isn't hand-painted, it's created with AI.
It works with dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and other pets. You can also mix pets and people, for example two dogs, a cat and you. Find out more on our family artworkfamily artwork page.
How to choose the separate photos
Every pet easy to see
Every pet should be sharp and well lit on one of the photos. Several pets on one photo work great too. The face, and especially the eyes, matter. The pet should fill a large part of the picture rather than appear small in the background.
A similar angle
The overall picture looks more harmonious if the photos were taken from a similar angle. Photos at the pet's eye level work well. If one pet was photographed from above and another from below, they're harder to bring together.
A typical pose
Choose photos that show character: the curious look, the pricked ears, the relaxed way of lying down. That way everyone recognizes each pet right away.
Use the original files
Pictures from messaging apps or screenshots often lose quality. Use the original file from your phone's gallery instead.
Tips for new photos
- Photograph each pet on its own when it's relaxed, for example after a walk.
- Use daylight by a window or outside in the shade.
- Get down to eye level, kneel or lie on the floor.
- A treat or a sound next to your phone draws the gaze to the camera.
- Use burst mode and pick a good shot later.
When one pet is no longer alive
Sometimes the pet family includes one that has already died. With the family artwork it can still be in the picture, even from an older photo. That way you get a picture where everyone who belongs together is united. If this is on your mind right now, you'll find gentle thoughts on our Rainbow BridgeRainbow Bridge and In MemoryIn Memory pages.
Which style suits them?
